Maria (Mary Esther)'s Story
Married a LaSalle HS alumnus who was a member of my parish at St. Leo's. Worked as a para-legal for a law firm in San Antonio and, after completing college, went to work for the Dept of the Army as a Personnelist (I was a late bloomer; graduated at age 40!) I've been a member of the Bexar County Master Gardeners for 15 years and stay busy with the volunteer work. Five years before retirement, my husband Henry and I moved to Bandera, TX. We enjoy the rustic beauty of the Hill Country and like to tube the Medina River at the back of our property. We are blessed with two wonderful boys and five grandchildren (another one on the way). Our sons both finished college and served active duty in the submarine service; the youngest is now a Senior Chief in the Navy Reserves. We are very proud of their military...Expand for more
service and their accomplishments. We enjoy the work we do for our community and our parish in Bandera, and we like to "Tango" (and, no, we are not Dancing With the Stars material).
My latest project is the HHS Class of '62 Reunion. The best part of the planning process is locating our graduates and spending time with them on the telephone. The saddest part is finding out how many of our classmates have passed away. Here's some reunion particulars: Friday, Sept 14, 2012 "Howdy Night" at El Tropicano Hotel, SAT. Tour of HHS Saturday morning, Sept 15th. Saturday evening, Sept 15th, sit-down dinner and "sock hop" at Fort Sam Houston Golf Clubhouse.
